As a current director on the Board of Administration, I am running for re-election to continue representing students as best I can.
Thanks to the new structure in which directors are elected, the board was able to make great accomplishments this year.
Using my experience from this year, I hope to help continue this legacy by:
- continuing to make the board more accessible and accountable to students
- helping to make the SFUO businesses and purchasing more environmentally sustainable and ethical
- helping to make the SFUO employees and volunteers more representative of the students of the SFUO
I hope to have the chance to talk to those of you who have questions or concerns, but please also feel free to send me an email if you do (kkanj043@uottawa.ca).
Faculty of Education
Myriam Bérubé
As president of the Student council of the Faculty of education in the French sector, it’s with great pleasure that I’m presenting myself as a member of the Board of Administration of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa. I wish to represent the students of the Faculty of Education with conviction and transparency for the rest of our school year. It’s important to be part of the decision making at the SFUO and I’m looking forward to consulting the other student association at the faculty to best represent and to defend the interests of the students. Communication and collective decision making are part of my priorities.
Faculty of Medicine
Marie-Ève Bérubé
It’s with great pleasure that I am running to represent the Faculty of Medicine on the Board of Administration of the Student Federation of the University of Ottawa. During the 2009-2010 mandate, I wish to represent the students with conviction and transparency, relying on the valuable experiences I have gathered in the past. Every year, the SFUO makes important decisions on your behalf, and I believe your opinion should be heard. I will rely on your comments, opinions and suggestions, keeping you informed on the decisions and pressing issues at hand along the way. I am looking forward to working with you next year!
Faculty of Law, Common Law
Arthur Dennis Stark
Dennis Stark is an Aboriginal candidate for the SFUO Board of Administration from the English Common Law Program, Faculty of Law. He has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in both History and Mass Communications plus a minor in French. Prior to law school, Dennis sat on numerous boards of directors that often oversaw budgets in the millions of dollars. Since becoming a law student, Dennis became an advocate for the Aboriginal Counseling Elders Resource Centre to help with the retention of Aboriginal students at the University of Ottawa. He is also president of the Aboriginal Law Students Association. Dennis strongly believes in allowing equity seeking groups to make their case for inclusion in the University of Ottawa Community.
Having attended several SFUO Board Meetings, Dennis if elected, can lend his experience to the BOA on how to set policy and procedures. Dennis is also an accountability and transparency advocate, and will ensure student levy funds are well spent. As a member of the SFUO, Dennis will strive to work for further understanding and reconciliation between Aboriginals and all Canadians.

Dennis looks forward to the chance to serve all students.
Faculty of Law, Droit Civil
Bruno Gelinas-Faucher
One of the simplest yet most important things that I commit myself making is to keep the interest of the civil law students in priority. Yes, actually several small groups try to tear off the power within the FÉUO. An independent and intelligent vote is thus all the more important to concretely represent our reality as well as our interest as civil law students.
Also, the project that I wish to carry out in the long term is the one of the repatriation of our contribution for the Agora. We already have an effective, well run and auto-sufficient book service managed by civil law students. Yet, we pay for the Agora which does not sell any law books. The FÉUO must respect our distinct reality and I will make sure that it is done.
Finally, another important project for me will be to transmit information to you. Several events and decisions occur at the FÉUO, certainly not all relevant, but several touch you directly and deserve that you know them.
I will thus ensure myself to have my place in the ‘’mot de l’asso’’ as well as at the General assemblies of the AÉÉDCO to let you know what’s going on with the FÉUO and outside Fauteux. Moreover, I wish to create a blog by which I will transmit this information to you but also will collect your projects and ideas.
Let’s take our place!
